A Memory by Dorothy and Tom Woolley

In 1949, we purchased a half-acre in the Salvador area. We built our own home and raised three children here. We still live in the same home. My roots go back a long time in this area as my father lived in the Mark West Springs area and his father drove a buck-board wagon delivering spring water around the valley. My father always talked of riding the train Napa had back then from Vallejo to Calistoga. So it's kinda neat to think of him while riding the same route and seeing the same view so many years later. We have many memories of the changes this valley has gone through, including the plans and development of the Wine Train. In April of 1996, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Our daughter and family, gave us tickets for dinner on the Wine Train. So on April 25th, 1996, we enjoyed a dinner and trip on the train in a relaxed and pleasant way. Enclosed is our picture taken that day by the train. We purchased the picture to keep the memory of a most enjoyable day.
