(Jan. 28, 2010) Napa Valley, California (CNN) -- It is the quintessential Napa Valley experience.
Passengers aboard sleek antique rail cars pay more than $100 for a four-course meal, not including the wine. A recent lunch aboard the train included steak, lobster cakes and local greens.
During their three-hour journey winding through Napa Valley, passengers can choose from more than 100 wines to complement their meal.

The Hippy Gourmet

The Hippy Gourmet TV show explores local sustainable and healthy cuisines and teaches viewers how to recreate dishes in their own homes.In this episode of Hippy Gourmet, reporter Chris Nolder joins Chef Kelly Macdonald on board the Napa Valley Wine Train. Chef Macdonald prepares Yam & Goat Cheese Rellenos and Cabernet Beet Salad in our 1915 Pullman car kitchen. Nolder and Macdonald then join Wine Director Ryan Graham for some organic wine parings.

Dear Senator,

I called your office this morning, but you were unavailable to talk. So, I thought it might be appropriate to express my concerns in writing. I was shocked to hear that people high up in Washington think that the Napa Valley Wine Train received $54 million in stimulus money -- which, of course, we didn’t.

I, and a number of other people, have read your Stimulus Checkup – a report outlining poor government spending. Page 14 (number 11 on list) is titled “All Aboard the Wine Train ($54 million).”

The exciting finale of TOP CHEF’s season 6 took place in the beautiful and storied Napa Valley in December. Known world-round for its amazing restaurants and wine, Napa was a great setting for Bravo’s highly rated TV culinary contest.
