Croatian-born founder and winemaker Miljenko “Mike” Grgich is the man behind the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won the 1976 Judgement of Paris, putting Napa Valley on the map and earning Mike a reputation as one of the greatest winemakers in the world. On any given day, you may even meet this sprightly and charming legend in person while visiting.
Enjoy your choice of soup or salad or choice of entree in an elegant dining car as you journey northbound through the Napa Valley. Disembark at Grgich Hills Winery for a one-hour private tour and tasting directed by a member of the Grgich Hills staff. Re-board the train for the dessert course in our lavishly restored 1915 Pullman Lounge Car as you head back to Napa Station.
In the spirit of traditional rail seating, you will share a table with another party on our winery tours. All of our winery tours require moderate stair climbing and standing for extended periods. We encourage guests who may have difficulty performing these two activities to consider our regular Lunch Packages.
