Grgich Hills Estate: A Legacy Rooted in Napa’s History
Very few stories embody Napa’s history like that of Miljenko “Mike” Grgich, the founder of Grgich Hills Estate. First known for his role in the 1976 Judgment of Paris—where Napa wines took the world by surprise—Mike has built a legacy of excellence.
Today, the next generation, including his daughter, Violet Grgich, continues this tradition. Grgich Hills includes organic farming, focusing on minimal intervention and maximum flavor. Their Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are staples aboard our experiences, offering guests a taste of the estate’s deep roots. Their acclaimed Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are featured aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train and are part of our Grgich Hills Estate Tasting Experience. This journey includes a stop at the winery, where guests can indulge in a guided tasting of their signature wines, learn about the family’s rich heritage, and gain insight into their process. In the fall months, you can even immerse yourself in the wine-making process (literally) with our Grape Stomp experience.
As you step into the historic winery, you’ll be immersed in a legacy built on hard work, vision, and a belief in the land’s potential. The rolling vineyards, warm hospitality, and stories of perseverance make this more than just a tasting—it’s a celebration of a family’s passion.
